BDSM Toy Review: Three Restraints and A Blindfold

The wonderful people over at PinkCherry.Com were nice enough to send me a number of kinky items to compare and contrast with each other. They also sent me two of each of these items to give away on Pleasurists, and that contest will come out soon so keep your eye out!

Each of these items are quite affordable, all under $15 on PinkCherry.Com. With sex toys, usually you get what you pay for, so the more you pay the higher the quality, and for the most part that’s true. These items are not heavy duty leather, nor do they have fancy bells and whistles, however they all do exactly what they are meant to do while being very affordable and fun to use.

Some duplicate information in video and text.

Japanese Love Rope

Purple Japanese Love Rope from PinkCherry.Com

This purple Japanese Love Rope is very basic. It comes with finished edges and has a little 16-page booklet included with it as well which has a lot of great basic rope safety information as well as a few ties within it. The rope itself is a gorgeous purple color and is very soft and feels nice against the skin, though it could easily leave pretty rope marks as well. It is 3 meters or 10 feet long.

Onyx and I have played with the rope a few times, it is great for a few of the ties in the Two Knotty Boys book, mostly basic wrist and ankle ties since it is not terribly long. It is wonderfully smooth and the purple color is simply gorgeous against the skin.

Taboo Kinky Cuffs

Taboo Kinky Cuffs: 'Don't Stop' from PinkCherry.Com

These Taboo Kinky Cuffs are fun and easy to use. What I like most about them is that they are made out of neoprene, which is made to use wetsuits and is 100% water friendly (so says the back of the package). They velcro to close and easily fit both large and small wrists and they are strong and very easy to use.

As you can see from the image, they say “Don’t Stop” on them, so they’re a little campy and fun, not strictly serious, though the writing is easy to ignore as well. They would be fun as a kind of gag gift or a gift to someone who takes things a little too seriously and you might want to bring a little levity to.

These also have a “sister product” which are also called Taboo Kinky Cuffs but these say Spank Me on them and are red.

Black “Pleasure”/Bondage Tape

Black Bondage Tape from PinkCherry.Com

I absolutely love Bondage Tape. This is actually my third roll of it, I’ve had another roll of black and currently have a roll of red in addition to this roll of black from PinkCherry. Bondage Tape is both discreet and extremely easy to use, so if you accidentally leave the roll out where others can see all they would see is a roll of black tape, not a bondage item.

Bondage Tape isn’t sticky to anything but itself, so you don’t have to worry about hair being pulled out or skin being irritated. However, it does stick to itself very easily, so it’s great for any quick bondage, though you should be sure to wrap it around multiple times as just once isn’t enough.

It’s also great for impromptu gags, especially panty gags or something similar, you can wrap it around the head easily to secure a gag and not have to worry about hair getting ripped out since it sticks to itself and not anything else.

Pleasure Masks

Black and Red Pleasure Masks from PinkCherry.Com

Last but not least, the Pleasure Masks, or blindfolds, are a really great deal. They are made of rather light fabric so they, again, aren’t heavy-duty but they definitely serve their purpose.

They do have a bit of fabric that actually goes over the bridge of the nose to keep light out, so the sliver of light that blindfolds often will let through is nonexistent with these if positioned correctly. This is wonderful because it creates complete sensory deprivation instead of partial and can help to but the bottom in the right mindset faster.

Since you get two to the pack you can color coordinate them to outfits, rope, or other bondage items if you like, or if you end up losing one of them you always have the other to use, which is handy if you often misplace things like I do.

Overall each of these items are a great deal at under $15 a piece. They are all sturdy, well-made, and easy to use while also being affordable. Much thanks to PinkCherry.Com for sending me these items, and duplicates of each of these items so I can give them away to you, my readers! Keep your eye out for the contest coming soon on Pleasurists and will be cross-posted here too.

Dildo Review: RubyGlass21 Red Pleasure Wand

Red Pleasure Wand - Glass Dildo from SexToy.Com

Of all the dildos I’ve tried, glass dildos are by far my favorite type. I have a feeling I would love any other hard materials too, like wood or steel, but glass is the only hard material I’ve tried so far.

Glass toys are also extremely pretty, even the most basic of designs appeal to my toy snob sensibilities, and the Red Pleasure Wand is no exception.

Glass is also a plus because it isn’t porous, so it can be completely disinfected. You can clean it with soap and water or boil it to be sure to get any possible bacteria. Glass also retains heat extremely well, so you can stick it in the freezer for some extra cold sensation play, or heat it up in warm water.

The Red Pleasure Wand is about eight inches long and a one inch thick shaft with one and a half inch thick bulbous ends. It is made of clear glass with red swirls on each round end.

One end is slightly curved, and when I first saw it I was skeptical as to whether or not it would actually end up hitting my g-spot, as usually g-spotting toys have more of a curve to them. However, because of the bulb on the end, which is wider than the shaft, the bulb was able to press against my g-spot nicely, adding that extra delicious amount of sensation.

The other end is not curved, but the bulbous end on that is able to hit the g-spot as well, if used at an angle, though it’s not as easy as the curved end. Each bulb acts as a nice handle when inserting the other end as well. Since I’m a fan of g-spot stimulation I have to say the slightly curved end is my favorite, but the straight end is also nice for anal fun or general thrusting.

Only a small percentage of my toy collection is made up of glass dildos, but the ones I have are all favorites in my toybox. Perhaps the best part about the Red Pleasure Wand is it’s price: a wonderful glass g-spot dildo for under $25? Pretty much sounds like heaven to me!

You can find the Red Pleasure Wand on SexToy.Com along with other glass dildos and sex toys of every flavor.

Much thanks to SexToy.Com for letting me review the Red Pleasure Wand!

Review: Strawberry Cheesecake O’My Lube and G-Spot Dream Massager

Strawberry Cheesecake Flavored O’My Lube

The only time I’ve used flavored lube before was in small sample-packs that came with safer sex kits handed out by the Queer Resource Center three or so years ago, and then I didn’t really end up using them so much as tasting them and accidentally spilling them on top of my dresser. This was before I was really into using lube, and mostly I took them to get the other stuff in the package.

In my latest lube testing I was expecting it to have some sort of taste, and I was a little disappointed, so since I’ve heard good things about O’My I decided I wanted to try O’My Flavored Lubricant in Strawberry Cheesecake, ’cause it sounded extra yummy.

The first thing I did once I got it was take some and rub it between my fingers for a few minutes, testing out the general feel of it, how well it lasted, and if it got sticky. I was pleasantly surprised as my (somewhat limited) experience with water-based lubes is that they tend to get sticky, and I figured a flavored one might just tend to get even more sticky, but it actually held up pretty well, not really getting sticky at all.

The next test was to taste it. Right from the bottle the lube has that strange flavored-lube aftertaste which my tongue relates to artificial sweeteners, but it’s not quite the same taste. Aside from the aftertaste, the lube does indeed have a strawberry taste to it, and close to a cheesecake hint, but mostly just strawberry, which I found to be quite enjoyable.

After actually using the lube, however, the taste changes. Mixed with juices the strange flavored-lube taste goes away simply to reveal a delicious strawberry flavor that I thought tastes pretty delicious. It was amusing to think that I then had a strawberry-flavored cunt.

Upon realizing this I had to think about the actual practical uses of flavored lube. It could be a way to entice a lover to go down on you, should they be wary of the natural taste, or great for using during penetrative sex with a condom to try to minimize the latexy condom-taste should there be some oral action after condom use. Or, as in my case, it can be just campy and fun to use every once in a while to have flavored genitals. I figure it could be great for the analinguist, as well, who doesn’t enjoy the taste of the backdoor.

What I really liked about the lube was the bottle it came in: a pump bottle. I’ve always thought these would be the best kind of bottles for lube to come in, since they’re super easy to get lube out of. A regular shampoo-type top of a lube bottle is fine, but it definitely takes longer and can be irritating in the heat of the moment.

G-Spot Dream Massager

I’m a big fan of G-Spot Vibrators, and so when I saw the G-Spot Dream Massager I was definitely intrigued. It looked sleek and gorgeous, while also being a very affordable price. While it’s not the most exciting name for a toy, more descriptive than fun, luckily it far surpasses the name’s expectations.

The G-Spot Dream Massager is made out of rubber cote, which is non-porous and phthalate-free, a winning combination in my book. It can be easily cleaned with soap and water, and won’t soak up bacteria like porous toys. It’s very smooth, almost silky, to the touch, somewhere between silicone and plastic and simply a delightful texture.

I found it both aesthetically and anatomically pleasing, a nice deep blue for the eye and a wonderful curve for the g-spot. If the controls were different (and it came in a black box instead of a plastic one) I would almost swear it was a LELO toy, and that’s quite a compliment coming from someone who loves LELO as much as I do. It’s gorgeous and feels sleek, smooth, and expensive, attributes I associate with LELO.

The curve of the shaft is just perfect for g-spot stimulation while the bump in the shaft adds wonderful sensation while thrusting. I also found it to be wonderful for clitoral vibration. My perfect clitoral toys have a little curve on them to ease placement while pressing against my clit. I found the G-Spot Dream Massager to fit against my mons just right so that I could easily maneuver it against my clit with just the right pressure. The width of the handle while using it on my clit deminished the vibrator claw-hand that I often get with small clitoral vibrators, while the tip was just the right size.

It takes two AA batteries in the base and tightens up to become a waterproof toy, so you can take it into the shower or bath with you, and I couldn’t resist doing just that! The base is also where the vibration control is, a simple twist-dial bottom that changes speeds from off to low to high quite easily, though it can be a little hard to get a hold of in the heat of the moment, especially with lubed-up fingers should you have them.

I couldn’t help using the G-Spot Dream Massager and Strawberry Cheesecake Lube together, since I knew I would be reviewing them together, and found they worked very well. The lube made the rubber cote material of the massager nice and slippery, not too slippery to still get a hold of, but slippery enough that it had no trouble sliding in.

Onyx and I used these two ways, first with him thrusting the toy into me while I rubbed my clit, and then we switched so that I was using the toy on my clit while he was thrusting in me with his fingers. Both ways were delightful, and it didn’t take me long at all to come once the toy was buzzing away at me.

You can find the G-Spot Dream Massager, O’My Flavored Lubricant, and other sex toys at Vibrator.Com

Lube Review: Boy Butter

I’ll admit, I’m somewhat of a lube novice. I used to think that lube wasn’t necessary because I’ve always tended to get very wet, and usually if lube is needed we just took Jenna Jameson’s advice and used spit to do the job. We first bought a bottle of lube primarily for anal play, some generic water-based lube that did what it should without complications, though it always leaves me stickier than I would like on my own. Since trying lube for the first time, however, I’ve become a bit of a convert.

Over the course of the relationship I’ve noticed my self-lubrication has decreased rather significantly. I used to be wet just about all the time, but now, two and a half years later, it takes more to get me lubed up the right way. I think this has to do with my body realizing that if I kept producing that much juice, coupled with a dryer hotter environment, I would be dehydrated all the time, though I’m sure some of it also has to do with being in a long-term relationship and getting used to the other partner as well.

Long story short, I’ve become a lube convert. Since I have a lot of silicone toys I have stayed away from silicone lube, since together they can cause a strange chemical reaction which will basically ruin your toys for further use. But as I said, the water-based lube we’ve tried has left us both sticky and just generally not good feeling, so I wanted to try something a little different.

So, in looking at the various lube options at SexToy.Com I was intrigued when I came upon the “Churn Style” Boy Butter, which is neither water- nor silicone-based but oil-based. I had heard about Boy Butter years ago at the sex shop in Juneau, a friend pointed it out to me, but at that time I wasn’t converted yet. I decided I should give it a try.

I was a little worried about the fact that Boy Butter does have organic silicone in it, but after quite a bit of research, including Boy Butter’s website and various other reviews of the lube saying it is safe on all sex toys, so I felt safe trying it on my silicone toys, and there was no negative reaction at all.

However, the major problem with Boy Butter for some is that it is oil-based. Oil-based lubes, while less sticky than water-based and completely toy-safe unlike silicone-based, are not latex-safe, which means unless you are using polyurethane condoms or are fluid-bonded with your partner (as Onyx and I are) you really shouldn’t use them. It basically eats away at the latex of condoms or gloves, which is definitely not safe. Though it is wonderful if you are not using latex during sex or for solo play.

Now that all the general info is out of the way, let me tell you about how Boy Butter tastes, smells, and most importantly how it feels, because that’s what you really want to know about, right? Boy Butter has virtually no taste or smell that I could detect whatsoever, but it does leave an oily feeling in your mouth should it end up there which is easily removed by drinking something. It feels damn near how it sounds: silky and smooth like butter; oily but not unpleasant, quite the contrary in fact. I found Boy Butter to be excellent especially in any sort of stroking, either stroking Onyx’s cock, or stroking my clit. Unlike other lubes, it lasts a nice long time and doesn’t get sticky, which makes it perfect for long stroking sessions.

When using it vaginally I found I needed more than I thought I would in order for it to feel right. Boy Butter creates a thin slick coating of oily lube on whatever you put it on, which wasn’t thick enough to be terribly pleasant alone, but once I got my own juices going I felt that the combination of the two was heavenly. However, it does have glycerin in it, and I think water-based lube is better vaginally in general.

Anally, too, Boy Butter was a bit of a dream. It makes me think of crisco in some respects, though not quite as thick, but similar since they are both oil-based. The best part about using Boy Butter anally is that it lasts for a nice long time, so you don’t have to keep reapplying to keep the slickness the same. It’s pretty much the perfect anal lube.

I definitely recommend Boy Butter for just about any sexual activity that doesn’t include latex. It’s odorless and tasteless and lasts for a good long time. Plus, who wouldn’t want to own some “Churn Style” Boy Butter that is “a downright pleasure to spread”? The puns alone are worth it in my book.

BDSM Toy Review: Leather Leash

Onyx and I have only used this a few times, though I have enjoyed it when we have. We have yet to use it on him, however, which would be an interesting experience. We do very little leash play or puppy play regularly, but I’ve always enjoyed the idea of it, and so I was intrigued when I saw it in the VibeReview website and wanted to try it out. How does one review a leather leash? Something I’ve been pondering for a while, and now you see the result:

Leashes are a bit of a staple of a BDSM toybox, they’re fun, easy and versatile and are able to create a clear definition of who is Dominant and who is submissive without too much effort. In short, they’re pretty great. They are great for keeping someone close, and can easily be incorporated into any sort of puppy play, or simply collar and lead play, both of which are pretty common.

I think the best quality of The Leather Leash from VibeReview is the thick quality leather that it is made of. Sometimes leather products, even sometimes expensive ones, don’t feel very good quality, but this one does. You can be sure that it won’t break easily from any tugging or pulling done to it.

It has a clip on one end that is easily attached to just about anything with a wide enough hole for it: collars, cuffs, nipple rings, nipple clamp chains, etc. It can be wrapped around and attached to itself, as well, making for a impromptu restraints. Your imagination can go wild at the versatility of this simple item.

The leash itself is only about four feet long, which is shorter than a lot of other leashes you can purchase I’m told, which could be a plus or a minus depending on what you’re wanting to use it for. Personally, I think that shorter is better, it means that the bottom has less room to maneuver, and also it’s a bit more intimate (though all leash play is definitely intimate). It’s a good signifier of the start of a scene as well.

Overall I’ve really enjoyed playing with The Leather Leash and look forward to much more playtime with it ahead. It’s good quality that will last for quite some time, especially if the leather is taken care of as well. If you’re looking for a good solid leash, I’d highly recommend it.

Dildo Review: Tantus G-Spot

Much like Bandito which I reviewed last week, Tantus G-Spot/Celestial Perfection (VibeReview calls it Celestial Perfection) is absolutely gorgeous and curved just the right way, though the color makes it the opposite of Bandito, a soft pearly white instead of a hard black. Celestial Perfection is sleek, smooth, and pleasing to the eye. I wasn’t sure how much I was going to like it when initially, but once I got it I was enthralled by it’s beauty, so much so that I posed with it in an HNT pic!

Everything about Celestial Perfection is, well, perfect. It looks almost like the silhouette of a goddess figure (though not as much as my lover Vicky Venus is), with curves that look like a head, arms, and ass, which I imagine is part of what lends it it’s name: celestial. It’s made by Tantus so you know it’s going to be good quality, it’s 100% silicone, and it has a slot for a bullet vibe in the bottom (and one comes with it) so you can use it as a dildo or vibrator or both.

The curve of Celestial Perfection is simply wonderful, both the g- or p-spot curve of it and also the curves in the shaft of the toy itself. It’s larger than I was expecting it to be, as well, about 7 inches long and over 5 inches around (1.7 inches in diameter), so the bulb on the end grinds into that sensitive internal spot so nicely.

It’s also harness compatible (which you probably already guessed if you looked at the HNT I wore it in), with a nice wide base, and would be perfect to fuck with, since you know it will hit all the right places. I haven’t yet used it with either of my harnesses, except for wearing it once for the HNT pic mentioned above. The base seems a little thin to me when I hold it, but that may be the comparison of it to Bandito’s super thick base.

Overall I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. I was expecting a regular dildo, nothing too fancy, but I found the curves, shape, and look of it alone was enough to turn my head and intrigue me and make Celestial Perfection into one of my new favorite dildos to use.

Review: Hardcore Harness

This is my second strap-on harness, the first that I bought about four or five years ago, the Terra Firma Harness, and has served me well over the years, but as I always want more than one option for any given activity I decided it was time to get another harness. I looked around for something different, and something a little less basic than the terra firma with a little more show.

I was first attracted to this harness because of the back side of it. Similar to the Corsette Harness the Hardcore Harness laces up the back and emphasizes curves in all the right ways, wide enough to flatter any figure. It also has flame detail on the leather, which makes me think about bikers and leather style and is what gives this harness it’s name. The harness is well-crafted and gorgeous.

My first priority when it comes to choosing a strap-on harness is if it will fit me, there are a number of harnesses that I lust over which are just simply too small for my body. Many harnesses only go up to 42″ or so, which is fine if that fits you, but for those of us of the bigger variety we need to go for something larger. The Hardcore Harness fits up to 54″ hips and smaller, I found it to fit well, with some room to maneuver around in as well.

Only the front and back of the harness are leather, and the front panel of leather can easily be taken off if you prefer to feel the dildo’s base against you. The sides are nylon and have the kind of fasteners I associate with backpacks: ones that you can easily tighten and release by a tug, which makes putting it on and taking it off incredibly easy! It’s also very easy to adjust The Hardcore Harness to exactly where you want it, tightening or loosening even while in the middle of fucking with it.

I’ve used this with both Bandito and Celestial Perfection and it easily held each of them. It comes with an o-ring already which fits toys up to 2″ in diameter, but you could easily exchange the o-ring for a smaller or larger ring to fit your toy perfectly.

It is a two-strap or jock-strap style harness and the front panel rests against the mound so it doesn’t cover up the rest of the vulva at all. I also found The Hardcore Harness to be extremely comfortable as well, honestly I didn’t notice it at all while wearing it, which is a great feeling to have when wearing a harness.

It’s gorgeous and both feminine and masculine at the same time, easy and comfortable to wear, what’s not to love? It was a perfect addition to my toybox, and has helped to re-awaken my love of strap-on sex, so look forward to more harness reviews in the future!

BDSM Toy Review: Plushy Gear Wrist Cuffs

I absolutely love restraints, so when I saw these affordable plushy gear wrist restraints I knew I just had to have them! The minute I got them I immediately put them on. Although my partner would not be home for a few hours I wanted to test them out and see how they felt. Unlike a lot of affordable (read: cheap) restraints, these are very well padded, not thin straps held together with Velcro.

Vibrator Review: Silver Bullet

I love clitoral vibrators, especially if they are affordable and strong, and The Silver Bullet is just that. Bullets have a dear place in my heart, as the first vibrator I ever bought was a bullet. I was visiting my sister in Seattle and she took me to Babeland (then Toys in Babeland), she and a few friends were taking one of their co-workers to buy her first sex toy, and I had just gotten in to town, so I tagged along. It was glorious. I remember being completely awe-struck, I wandered around, looked at books that I desired like Screw the Roses, Send me the Thornes and, though I did desire a rabbit, I went for a more affordable choice: a glow in the dark bullet vibe. It was fantastic, and I remember loving it… a lot.

As a bullet vibe was my first ever sex toy all those years ago (aside from my hand, of course) bullets are forever near and dear to my heart. They are wonderfully inexpensive, but can pack a strong punch, and The Silver Bullet does just that, not to mention the silver bullet is metal, as opposed to other plastic bullets, which means it takes temperatures nicely, you can warm it in your hands or cool it down with some ice for fun sensation play. The vibrations of the bullet are strong, pleasant, and concentrated at the tip of the bullet, just where I like it.

The strongest selling points, aside from the power for the price, is the ease of maneuverability and versatility. You can do just about anything with this toy, and I should know, I used my glow-in-the-dark bullet anywhere I could find a use for it since a bullet was the only toy I had for quite some time. Anything that small is just perfect to get exactly where you want it, great for clitoral or perineum stimulation.

Bullets are also great for anal play for those who just like something small up there (as long as you use a condom with the bullet so it’s easier to get out, and never ever ever pull the bullet out by the cord, pull it out by the condom). They can also be used for discreet public play, the bullet nestled right against the clit and the controls in your pocket. Partner play is enhanced with the bullet as well, since it’s small it’s easy to get in between bodies, with either partner holding the controls.

There’s an endless amount of fun you can have with bullets, and since they’re so affordable and versatile I believe every sex toy lovin’ home should have at least one. The Silver Bullet is one of the toys I plan on always having around and I believe it will never go out of style.

Dildo Review: Sensual Bulb Glass Dildo

I am a sucker for glass dildos, they are my absolute favorite kind of dildos out there, and that’s saying a lot because I love dildos. Though I have never owned a steel or wooden dildo and I have a feeling I would love them just as much since the main reason I love glass is because of the hardness. I love the way rock hard dildos feel within me: sleek, smooth, and, well, hard. The sensual bulb is no exception.

The Sensual Bulb is only about 4 1/2 inches long, which is somewhat small for a glass dildo, and definitely smaller than I was expecting. This isn’t bad, however, and I’ve found that the length is just about perfect for great g-spot stimulation, the bulb at the end of the toy can press against the g-spot nicely while the flared base is easy to hold and perfect for maneuvering it to just the right angle.

This toy is also wonderful for anal play as well, as the base is nice and wide (you always want to use toys with bases anally so that they don’t get sucked up inside!) and it’s not too big for those of us who don’t want anything humongous going into our ass. I wouldn’t recommend it for long-term plug wearing because the base is rather wide and could be uncomfortable after a short amount of time, but it is a wonderful toy to use anally. I also generally love glass dildos anally again because of the hardness. Not to mention that glass dildos are non-porous and very easy to clean and disinfect, which is something I look for in any toy I get but especially toys that I want to put up my ass.

The Sensual Bulb is absolutely gorgeous, I love the cute butterfly etched in the base, and the purpley pink color of it, which I believe just adds to the beauty of the toy. All in all The Sensual Bulb is a wonderful shape and perfect for both vaginal and anal play. Obviously since it is not too large it won’t satisfy those who desire a lot of girth to their toys, but if you want to enjoy a well-crafted glass toy that will hit the g-spot or to use anally, this is a wonderful toy to have on hand!
