Hard Love & How to Fuck in High Heels is a two-for-the-price-of-one DVD from Jackie Strano and Shar Rednour by their production company S.I.R. Video Productions. It was the 2001 AVN Winner of Best All-Girl Feature and is a DVD I’ve been lusting after for almost that long.

I remember walking into the Babeland here in Seattle many many years ago and seeing a display of queer porn including this DVD and one of their other productions Sugar High Glitter City. Immediately I was drawn to it, a budding femme at the time, and I longed to buy it but I was broke at the time. It’s been on my mind many times since that day so long ago, but I never got around to picking it up, until now.

I’ve only recently become aware of the many wonderful porn companies out there who are, as S.I.R. Video proudly proclaims, “100% dyke produced.” My other two porn reviews are of similarly queer productions and I enjoyed them immensely.

Shar Rednour wrote the book on femme (quite literally in fact–she wrote The Femme’s Guide to the Universe) so I knew these movies would be full of butch/femme goodness, and I was not disappointed. Both films were very much butch/femme based, and How to Fuck in High Heels shows us femme in a way that’s unusual to see (but not unusual to happen): Shar Rednour is the ultimate femme top.

In both Hard Love and How to Fuck in High Heels all the dildos are made by Vixen Creations, and when we watched it Marla and I were trying to figure out which toy was which. Some of them look specially made in gorgeous marbled colors like pink and black, teal, brown, and black (which is gorgeous), and blue and white; others are solid colors like black and hot pink.

Also, gloves are used for digital penetration, dental dams are used for oral sex, and condoms are used for anal penetration, which is wonderful to see in any porn.

Scene-by-scene

We start with Jaz and Talia, going right into the fucking, no back story, no information except for these two black-clad people fucking on a gorgeous wooden kitchen island. The chemistry between the two is unmistakable, which is what I really go for in any porno. If the chemistry is good then the scenes are worth watching.

The scene cuts to Renee and Devon coming in to Renee’s apartment, after lamenting having no time to do anything because she needs to pack Devon talks Renee into doing a strip-tease for him. It’s very cute and very cheesy, and when Marla and I watched it together we were amused at the cheesyness and how much the dialogue sounded like a conversation we would have. Renee strips down from her “corporate drag” until she’s in nothing but stockings, a garter, and panties.

Before long she has Devon’s cock out from under his chaps and jeans and is sucking it with extreme close-ups such as above. While a lot of the shots are acceptable, the extreme close-ups were not appealing, they were just too close and not really sexy at all. Luckily it continually switched between different viewpoints, but every time it got so close we both were taken out of the storyline.

The other shots that really irked us while watching were the two above. Separately they would be fine, but they switched between those two views as if they were the same scene and Renee wasn’t in a radically different position in each of them. I realize the reason for this, to give a better shot of the big black Vixen Creations cock, but it was still irritating to watch. However, it didn’t take away too much from the movie as a whole, but it was enough to mention.

Cock riding changes into some doggy-style fingering (with gloves on) after which Renee convinces Devon to give her a strip-tease since she gave him one and turnabout is, as they say, fair play. I was a big fan of this butch strip-tease, done in a very casual and teasing manner, you can tell that both actors were enjoying themselves. After a zig-zag swipe (kinda like a star swipe but different) we come back to Renee and Devon, seeming to pick up where the last shot of them left off, and not a moment later Jaz bursts through the door. Devon promptly high-tails it so that Renee and Jaz can have a nice drama-licious fight. After much yelling and back-and-forth things settle down to packing up Renee’s stuff, proving that Jaz is still her bitch… er… butch, her butch. That’s it, yeah.

Of course, the calmer atmosphere post-fight is conductive to some sweet goodbye/make-up/break-up/something-or-other sex, which was predictable and I groaned as they started reminiscing and touching, the obvious signs that sexing was on the way.

It starts sweet, and just like every other pairing there is obvious chemistry and feelings flying between them. They strip each other while laying in to it with a mix of passion and remorse for the relationship they once had, it’s pretty emotional which I found surprising to find in a porno. There is some gloveless fingering, the only we see in either of the movies, and before long Renee is scooting back to the edge of the bed.

Not only do we see the only gloveless fingering in the movies, but we also see the only anal sex, perhaps showing just how connected they are, able to engage in such an intimate act. It is sexy and intimate, a great farewell to a great relationship.

Scene-by-scene

The first 10 or so minutes is Shar’s performance piece spliced with an “interview” of the cast and crew of How to Fuck in High Heels. The interview is clearly satirical and pretty amusing.

The first scene is between Shar and Simone in which Shar is sporting a glittery red bra, a gorgeous red cock and the matching red glittery Wonder Woman Harness by Aslan Leather, both of which I immediately wanted to reach into the screen and have for myself.

I think pasties are extraordinarily fun and sexy and that combined with my leopard print addiction made me try out these Domenico Heart Pasties in leopard and gold. I haven’t been watching as much porn lately as I used to. Really I haven’t watched that much porn since Onyx and I got together, but I used to watch it a lot, and this is something I want to change. I have lusted over Pink & White productions since I first heard about them which is why Champion was my first pick of DVD to review from Early to Bed. I’ve heard wonderful things about Champion as well as Crash Pad and the Crash Pad Series among others.

Like all porn movies I’ve ever seen (years ago) the acting isn’t wonderful. While it’s also better than a lot of porn acting Champion still has it’s share of flatly delivered lines and wrong inflection of words. I was happy that every sex scene seemed to have a purpose to either further the plot or give some sort of believable reference to it.

I don’t care too much for the storyline, but part of that was just not being that into storylines in general, I didn’t expect much from it because it is porn first and foremost and it wasn’t horrible just not great either. The fucking, however, was delicious and delightful.

While the story itself is somewhat believable I lost interest in it pretty quickly once the fucking started anyway. And, oh, the fucking. The chemistry between couples was right on for what they were trying to do in each scene, giving an idea of the character or somehow referencing back to the plot. Every coupling had it’s own unique feeling to it which made sense for the scene and characters.

Scene-by-scene

The movie opens with Jessie (Syd Blakovich) fucking her (ex-)girlfriend Kathy (Jiz Lee) quite vigorously while what sounds like a phone rings. The phone sound is actually an alarm or possibly text message signaling Jessie to go train. Jessie leaves quite abruptly leaving a frustrated Kathy who takes matters into her own hands, as they say. As the credits roll the shots alternate between watching Jessie train and Kathy fucking herself, giving us a good juxtaposition between fighting and fucking which we will get a few more times throughout the movie. It’s only a couple of minutes before Kathy comes and the rest of the movie begins.

After some fighting and badgering of Jessie from her manager we get to the next sex scene which starts with a quick hot deep-throating blowjob. We watch as a presumably drunk Jessie fucks Girl #1 (Madison Young). Yes, that is seriously her name in the titles: Girl #1, though there’s no Girl #anything-else, but I shall call her Madison from now on.

Madison is obviously into Jessie and enjoying herself immensely. The only thing that detracts me from it is Madison has a tendency to let out little squeaky whimpers that kind of irritate me, but not enough to keep me from loving the scene. After much thigh-smacking, abdomen-scratching, fervent fucking we see Jessie waking up and remarking to Madison “what’s keeping you, honey?” Possibly my favorite line in the movie.

After suffering wearing a dress for a photoshoot then flirting and being rejected by her opponent in her next fight Violet (Dallas) Jessie comes home to Kathy with a bit of a bruised ego and takes that frustration out on her. We see her fucking Kathy much more tenderly than we saw her with Madison. The two have wonderful chemistry as lovers, which makes sense because they are lovers in real life. After a long intimate sex scene (yes, I said intimate) Jessie quickly up and leaves, which is as per usual from Kathy’s reaction.

In between clips of Jessie watching videos of old fights we come to what is quite possibly my favorite scene in the film. Jessie’s manager Tiny (Dylan Ryan) comes to see Jessie’s nemisis Bobby (Javier). From the request Tiny makes at the end it seems her reason to come see Bobby is to ask him to not fuck up Jessie’s chance of winning her fight against Violet, not knowing that Bobby has already talked to Jessie and rigged the fight. It’s a good excuse, though, to get these two in a van together.

Bobby and Tiny, like the rest of the couples, have wonderful chemistry and are spectacular to watch. As I mentioned, I think this is my favorite of the scenes, not just because Bobby is a transman and Tiny leaves her shoes on the entire scene which was very butch/femme and very hot, but also because the fucking is simply phenomenal. Bobby uses his cane as a spreader bar on Tiny’s knees (a trick I’m going to have to try) which keeps her wide open for so he can fuck her easily and enables us to watch her ejaculate not once but twice.

After the fight, which in theory is the climax of the film (as opposed to the many climaxes the performers have within it) Jessie and her opponent Violet (Dallas) get down and dirty. This is the first time that we have seen Jessie get fucked, in all her other scenes she is the one doing the fucking but in this scene they are fucking each other.

It is a nearly twenty minute fuckfest of the two of them exploring each others bodies somewhat tenderly before really getting into it. The length was a little long for me, but they kept switching positions and keeping it fresh so it didn’t drag exactly or get repetative. Again, the chemistry here is wonderful and it definitely has that feeling of newness and wonder at a first intimate experience with someone you’ve been lusting at from afar.

Obviously I’m a big fan of the movie. Like I said, I wasn’t too into the plot, but it did give the movie excuse to have a couple fight scenes which were great to watch and to build up the tension between Jessie and Violet for the final scene. Just in case I haven’t raved about it enough, I thought the sex was wonderful and fit the attitudes of the characters and the movie itself. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys hot queer sex and a fairly good storyline.

Fun Factory Week continues with a new and slightly unusual FF item!

The rubber means that the cuffs have no breatheability whatsoever so they end up getting your wrists sweaty even after a short period of use. This kind of defeats the idea of being able to wear them casually for long(ish) periods of time or even wearing them for long periods of play time, especially in the warmer months. I would imagine I would enjoy wearing them more in the cooler months, however.

Other than the breatheability issue I think they are cute and definitely serve their purpose. They are definitely not a heavy-duty item but they can withstand a small amount of resistance and would be extremely fun for quick bondage especially in public. I imagine quick and dirty park sex with wrists bound by the chain of these cute babies, maybe behind the back with the penetrating partner holding onto the chain… or any other quick fantasy. That is definitely what these cuffs are made for and where they shine.

For some reason I expected this to be longer, but it’s really quite short. I know it says on the product page that it’s mini, but I still imagined it to be the size of the other rabbit flogger I have, which was the inspiration for me wanting this flogger. It’s short, which isn’t bad, because that means you don’t need full swings to get at places, and it works well on just about anywhere large or small.

Like I said, I have a rabbit flogger, which is nice and soft and is “impact caresses” as Onyx and I have phrased it. The rabbit-only flogger is wonderful for those who don’t like pain at all, or when you want to be nice, or just for giving a soft massage of sorts. I like the feeling of fur flogging but was interested in having a bit more oomph to the sensation as well, so when I saw the fur AND leather flogger I knew I had to try it.

After being thoroughly disappointed with the Sex Clean Toy Cleaner I was sent to review I picked up this Anti-Bacterial Toy Cleaner on the fly when at a local shop.

In looking into some of the ingredients, however, I was a little disappointed though not surprised. This toy cleaner uses triclosan to kill bacteria though also has Methylchloroisothiazolinone and Methylisothiazolinone within it both of which are supposed to be somewhat anti-bacterial and both of which are irritants. Granted, this cleaner isn’t going directly on you and only a small part amount of it will be getting on you at all, but that was still a little worrysome.

Due to this I have taken to using the spray cleaner directly after use of a toy for ease of clean-up and the convenience of being able to spray-clean a toy without having to get out of bed post use. However, before using the toy again I make sure to wash it, just to be extra careful about the irritants coming in contact with my sensitive bits. Is this overly cautious? Maybe. However, since I’ve had reactions to chemicals in my cunt before (can we say ow?) I am a fan of erring on the side of caution.

I really do like this spray, however, irritants aside. I admit I haven’t delved into the information on every single ingredient yet, but for the most part I think it’s super convenient and a great way to clean toys. Not everyone is as overly cautious about chemicals as I am as well, and I still rate it at a four regardless of potential reactions. I say, if you’re looking for a toy cleaner spray (and who isn’t?) this is a great one to go for!

I’m not sure where I first heard about X: The Erotic Treasury, but I always heard epic things. Is it the greatest erotica book since sliced bread? It just might be.

The stories within X are highly variable and don’t seem to favor any orientation, fetish, or style except maybe fantastic writing. This collection is supposed to be the best-of-the-best, which is why it’s a treasury. The editor, amazing sex-goddess Susie Bright, says that when she first imagined the anthology “the phrase that crossed [her] mind was ‘an embarassment of riches.’” A chest of pirate treasure with jewels and riches overflowing from it. I can say that she succeeded in realizing her idea.

Each story is carefully crafted and wonderfully written, they all sucked me in and turned me on regardless of content. I found myself fetishizing and getting turned on by objects, ideas, and body parts which normally don’t do it for me. I also found myself turned on by situations and desires that are long-time fantasies, but imagining them in new lights or through a different lens, pictures painted for me in such beautiful ways.

My favorite story in the book, titled “Sweating Profusely in Merida: A Memoir” by Carol Queen is short and sweet, just barely over four and a half pages, and starts with the description of a sex party. Of course, I won’t deny that Carol Queen herself may be the reason this is my favorite story, as I always love and identify with her writings, but that’s neither here nor there. Despite it’s short length it gave me the impression that I knew these characters, just from a few lines, and easily lead me to a place where I couldn’t help but touch myself, and not all erotica makes me need to do so.

As a lover of erotica, I was highly impressed by X. While many anthologies waver in their excitement and some stories fail to grip the reader, I found that every story just brought me higher and higher, like digging through a treasure chest and never finding a tarnished jewel.

I’m kind of a sucker for hearts and things with hearts on them. I was really attracted to the Heart Impressions Crop for that reason. We have a paddle with a cut-out heart that occasionally leaves imprints if hit with hard enough (ouch!) which can be really fun for pictures and the like, or for a good excuse to hit really hard, so I thought a crop that does similar would also be fun to have around.

Unfortunately, I have been unable to get the crop to actually leave an impression. I think this has to do with the fact that the leather isn’t very thick (which is normal for crops) and so there isn’t much of a distinction between the leather of the crop and the cutout. I was a little disappointed that it didn’t actually leave a heart-shaped mark, and think that the Impressions Mood Slappers from Sportsheets may do a better job at this.

However, even though the crop didn’t actually leave a mark it did still work very well as a cute short crop that is not super stingy but can sting if needed. The sting is highly variable depending on the force with which it is hit, of course, but with average force it’s not that stingy. I think of it kind of as a warm-up crop, or maybe a crop for those who don’t like a lot of sting but enjoy the impact. It makes a wicked sound, too, which I really enjoyed. It sounds a lot worse than it actually is, probably because of the red layer in between the leather loop.

While it didn’t do it’s intended purpose–impress a heart–it still works really well as a crop in general, and is still super cute. I think it would especially be the perfect crop for a beginner or someone of any level who enjoys less of a sting or likes a warm-up crop. As long as you keep in mind that the impression doesn’t work too well and just buy it for it’s other qualities I would highly recommend it.
