Lube Review: Intimate Organics Hydra

The more I try different types of lube the more I realize what I like and don’t like. While I haven’t actually tried as many lubes as I would like to have a good rounded idea of everything to do with lube I have tried enough to realize that there are things which I don’t like.
I don’t like glycerin in my lubes. I find that lubes with glycerin in them tend to get sticky, not to mention glycerin (which is a type of sugar) plus vulvas very often equals yeast! I do wonder why lube companies include glycerin in their lubes at all, considering it could produce health problems in their customers (probably because they can get away with it and make a profit).
The other thing I don’t like in my lubes are parabens, even though they’re supposed to make the products safter (they’re bacteriocidal and fungicidal). I admit, I’m not as strictly anti-paraben in other substances, although I’m slowly getting to be. Parabens can cause skin irritation in a small percentage of people and are correlated to cancer. While I do know that correlation does not always equal causation, but these make me nervous nonetheless. I have had allergic reactions to lube with parabens in it, as well. So why would I want to take the risk and rub parabens into the very vulnerable tissue of my cunt? I mean, really.
Luckily, there are a small handful of companies who take the things I’ve mentioned above into consideration. One such company is Intimate Organics. Not only is it glycerin- and paraben-free, it’s also DEA-free, semi-organic, vegan, and naturally derived. What’s not to love?
One thing that irks me about the company, however, is the name. Having a company name like Intimate Organics makes me assume all of their products are going to be organic, which isn’t true. Their products are made with organic extracts, which is awesome, but the products overall are not organic. Highly disappointing. The company is trying to get in on the natural/organic products trend going on and hoping that consumers aren’t looking too closely at the lables.
Intimate Organics Hydra Lubricant is water-based, so it’s safe to use on any toy type (including silicone), and it does not get sticky. Ever. I have not ever found it to get sticky in the many times I’ve used it, and I don’t believe that it’s makeup allows it to get sticky. This is a huge plus, as sticky lube is just not fun to use at all. I mean, sticky is basically the opposite of what lube should be!
The lube is silky and smooth, wonderful to the touch, and does exactly what lube should do: enhances lubrication without adding too much or taking anything away (in my opinion, anyway, some may not be able to overlook the negative below). It also simply feels like natural juices as opposed to synthetic like many lubes.
The only negative about Intimate Organics Hydra Lubricant is that it doesn’t taste or smell very good. The taste and smell is almost glue-like, it’s difficult to describe of course. While the taste and smell are things I am able to overlook due to the other merits this may be the turning point for some of you, and that’s okay.
Once the lube is mixed with natural juices, however, the taste and smell are actually less apparent. Also, since it doesn’t get sticky you can use less of it than some water-based lubes, as I’ve noticed often the less one uses often the stickier water-based lube will become.
While I’m still not thrilled about the smell and taste I’ve gotten used to it, and the fact that it’s not only glycerin- and paraben-free but also even semi-organic just tips the scales far in it’s direction for me. I would recommend Intimate Organics Hydra Lubricant above any lubes with glycerin or parabens, but I do think there are better tasting body safe lubes out there.
Thank you very much to Tabu Toys sex toys for allowing me to review the Intimate Organics Hydra Lubricant!

Lube Review: Babeland Entice

I don’t really have a whole lot of lube experience, though I’m working on changing that. The two I’ve reviewed are only one more than I’ve ever owned. Water and oil based thus far, and Entice is no outlier.
Entice lube by Babeland is a water-based lube and is glycerin-free, something I’ve only just become conscious of when it comes to lube. Glycerin definitely adds an easy texture for lube makers, but it’s not good for your “down there” parts because it is a sugar derivative, which means it can cause yeast infections and other nasty things.
Entice is not, however, paraben-free, which surprised me considering the maker. Parabens are harmful chemicals that mimic estrogen and have been linked to breast cancer. Though there is no definitive word if they directly cause cancer, studies show various findings from null to bad, so it’s really best to err on the side of caution and avoid them. That’s not to say I won’t be using Entice, however, but it’s definitely something to keep in mind.
Entice may have my favorite lube bottle design yet. It has a pump, which is definitely the handiest lube bottle design, since you don’t have to do much to get some out in a hurry, just press down on the pump and let it squirt onto your fingers (apologies, I couldn’t help myself). Instead of being a screw-top pump bottle like my O’My Flavored Lube or most liquid soap dispenser bottles, it has a cap to keep it from being pushed when you don’t want it to, which I prefer.
The lube itself has practically no smell or taste to it either, so it won’t offend the senses. It is a very nice consistency: slick and smooth. I found that it turned sticky if I didn’t use enough of it after a bit of friction. However, if I used a good amount I didn’t feel it getting sticky at all, which is a plus. Water-based lubes have a tendency to get sticky in my experience, so I wasn’t surprised, but some tend to get stickier than others. Even if it does get sticky since it is water-based Entice is easy to wash off with just water.
In my quest for the perfect lubricant I still have many more to try out, but because of the ease of it’s design Entice will definitely be one I keep on my nightstand when quick easy lube is needed.

Review: Strawberry Cheesecake O’My Lube and G-Spot Dream Massager

Strawberry Cheesecake Flavored O’My Lube
The only time I’ve used flavored lube before was in small sample-packs that came with safer sex kits handed out by the Queer Resource Center three or so years ago, and then I didn’t really end up using them so much as tasting them and accidentally spilling them on top of my dresser. This was before I was really into using lube, and mostly I took them to get the other stuff in the package.
In my latest lube testing I was expecting it to have some sort of taste, and I was a little disappointed, so since I’ve heard good things about O’My I decided I wanted to try O’My Flavored Lubricant in Strawberry Cheesecake, ’cause it sounded extra yummy.
The first thing I did once I got it was take some and rub it between my fingers for a few minutes, testing out the general feel of it, how well it lasted, and if it got sticky. I was pleasantly surprised as my (somewhat limited) experience with water-based lubes is that they tend to get sticky, and I figured a flavored one might just tend to get even more sticky, but it actually held up pretty well, not really getting sticky at all.
The next test was to taste it. Right from the bottle the lube has that strange flavored-lube aftertaste which my tongue relates to artificial sweeteners, but it’s not quite the same taste. Aside from the aftertaste, the lube does indeed have a strawberry taste to it, and close to a cheesecake hint, but mostly just strawberry, which I found to be quite enjoyable.
After actually using the lube, however, the taste changes. Mixed with juices the strange flavored-lube taste goes away simply to reveal a delicious strawberry flavor that I thought tastes pretty delicious. It was amusing to think that I then had a strawberry-flavored cunt.
Upon realizing this I had to think about the actual practical uses of flavored lube. It could be a way to entice a lover to go down on you, should they be wary of the natural taste, or great for using during penetrative sex with a condom to try to minimize the latexy condom-taste should there be some oral action after condom use. Or, as in my case, it can be just campy and fun to use every once in a while to have flavored genitals. I figure it could be great for the analinguist, as well, who doesn’t enjoy the taste of the backdoor.
What I really liked about the lube was the bottle it came in: a pump bottle. I’ve always thought these would be the best kind of bottles for lube to come in, since they’re super easy to get lube out of. A regular shampoo-type top of a lube bottle is fine, but it definitely takes longer and can be irritating in the heat of the moment.
I’m a big fan of G-Spot Vibrators, and so when I saw the G-Spot Dream Massager I was definitely intrigued. It looked sleek and gorgeous, while also being a very affordable price. While it’s not the most exciting name for a toy, more descriptive than fun, luckily it far surpasses the name’s expectations.
The G-Spot Dream Massager is made out of rubber cote, which is non-porous and phthalate-free, a winning combination in my book. It can be easily cleaned with soap and water, and won’t soak up bacteria like porous toys. It’s very smooth, almost silky, to the touch, somewhere between silicone and plastic and simply a delightful texture.
I found it both aesthetically and anatomically pleasing, a nice deep blue for the eye and a wonderful curve for the g-spot. If the controls were different (and it came in a black box instead of a plastic one) I would almost swear it was a LELO toy, and that’s quite a compliment coming from someone who loves LELO as much as I do. It’s gorgeous and feels sleek, smooth, and expensive, attributes I associate with LELO.
The curve of the shaft is just perfect for g-spot stimulation while the bump in the shaft adds wonderful sensation while thrusting. I also found it to be wonderful for clitoral vibration. My perfect clitoral toys have a little curve on them to ease placement while pressing against my clit. I found the G-Spot Dream Massager to fit against my mons just right so that I could easily maneuver it against my clit with just the right pressure. The width of the handle while using it on my clit deminished the vibrator claw-hand that I often get with small clitoral vibrators, while the tip was just the right size.
It takes two AA batteries in the base and tightens up to become a waterproof toy, so you can take it into the shower or bath with you, and I couldn’t resist doing just that! The base is also where the vibration control is, a simple twist-dial bottom that changes speeds from off to low to high quite easily, though it can be a little hard to get a hold of in the heat of the moment, especially with lubed-up fingers should you have them.
I couldn’t help using the G-Spot Dream Massager and Strawberry Cheesecake Lube together, since I knew I would be reviewing them together, and found they worked very well. The lube made the rubber cote material of the massager nice and slippery, not too slippery to still get a hold of, but slippery enough that it had no trouble sliding in.
Onyx and I used these two ways, first with him thrusting the toy into me while I rubbed my clit, and then we switched so that I was using the toy on my clit while he was thrusting in me with his fingers. Both ways were delightful, and it didn’t take me long at all to come once the toy was buzzing away at me.

Review: Finger Sleeve with Vibrating Bullet

I’m a big fan of clitoral vibrators, especially small ones that are nice and powerful, which was part of why I was attracted to the Finger Sleeve with Vibrating Bullet.
The other reason I was attracted to it was because of the way I like to masturbate: always on my stomach, using the same finger and only that finger to rub at my clit, and no vibrator had completely been able to replicate that experience because I always have to hold the vibe and if it’s small I sometimes end up getting that dreaded vibrator claw-hand that is no fun to experience.
I knew the little silver bullet that comes with it would be nice and strong, as I have one like it, and I thought the idea was just fabulous and reminds me of Fukuoku vibes (only cheaper in price). I have never owned a Fukuoku anything or a non-held vibe before so I thought this would be a good experience even if it wasn’t great.
But it is great! The only thing I’m a little wary of is the sleeve itself. The packaging it came in says it’s silicone, but it didn’t say 100% silicone, and it feels awful jelly-like, so that worries me a little bit. I doubt it would have bad icky phthalates in it, but it may be porous, so it may be unable to be cleaned. Though, then again, who knows, it could be 100% silicone, but I’d be surprised if it was and they neglected to say so on the package. Only the manufacturers know for sure, and they didn’t put any other information other than silicone
Aside from that minor irritation I really have enjoyed it. The vibrations are nice and strong and the nubs on the toy itself are great for rubbing with or without vibration (though I prefer it with). I really like the grip-free ability, basically I don’t have to hold it at all I just need to guide and press, which I found extremely delightful. The Finger Sleeve with Vibrating Bullet is a very basic toy at a very basic price (under $10, did I mention that part?) that does it’s job with no fuss.
Though since I don’t know the make I probably won’t use it as much as my Nea or Mia (my two favorite clitoral vibrators), but it’s definitely a toy I’ll reach for when my hand is tired and I just need to get off quickly without the risk of my hand getting stuck in an uncomfortable position (claw-hand) for a long time, and for under $10 you can’t afford not to have one.

Vibrator Review: The Odyssey Tickler
Written by Oct 20, 2008, 22:59

The Odyssey Tickler is really a very basic toy, which isn’t a bad thing, but I’ve definitely been spoiled lately with the toys I’ve been reviewing, so much so that everything I look to acquire generally has something interesting or unique about it. With the Odyssey Tickler, I thought that the prospect of the little ticklers at the base of the toy was interesting and while not wholly unique (if you remember, the Miracle Massager Attachment had a somewhat similar design, though the nubs were not as pronounced).
While the toy isn’t quite as sleek and gorgeous as the Lelo toys I’ve been reviewing, for example, it definitely has it’s own appeal. Plus, the insertable length is made of 100% silicone, one of my favorite toy materials and one of the safest. In addition to all that, unlike a lot of vibrators The Odyssey Tickler is also waterproof, meaning you can bring it with you for some hot shower sex, or any other water environment, and not have to worry about it getting damaged.
As someone who enjoys to insert a vibrator and then use a second vibrator on her clit, I thought the idea of these “tickler” nubs at the base of the toy might be a good one. I didn’t expect the nubs to hit my clit and they didn’t (although for some they might which would make this toy even more exciting). I do like the way the nubs massage my labia while the toy is inserted, and the extra sensation that they provide.
The Odyssey Tickler has three speeds, all controlled by a single button on the base of the toy. Press it once for low, again for medium, and again for high. The vibrations are nice and strong and can be felt throughout the toy, including on the tickler nubs, though are concentrated primarily at the head of the toy.
The insertable length is only about 3.5 inches, while that isn’t terribly long it is a great length to get the mushroomed head of it against the g-spot while the tickler nubs play with the sensitive skin of the labia. I also found the head is wonderful for clitoral stimulation as well.
I also used the toy on Onyx, who enjoyed it quite a lot. The ticklers easily rubbed against his cockhead, while the shaft rested against the bottom of his shaft, I was able to watch as he grew with the vibrations. He seemed to like it quite a lot, and I’d say this toy is worth it just for that if not anything else. Since it has the flared base it would also be a good candidate for anal penetration, with the ticklers massaging the perineum, which is something I also intend to try out.
Overall, this toy is a hit with both of us, the vibrations are strong and very pleasant, and the ticklers just add wonderful sensation to the experience. While it’s not extraordinary in terms of it’s appearance it definitely gets the job done, and there’s no beating waterproof vibrators since they can follow you anywhere you are wanting to play. For what you get, The Odyssey Tickler is extremely inexpensive and simply a wonderful addition to any toybox.

Dildo Review: Silicone Crystal Cote
Written by Sep 10, 2008, 11:43

I have never had a suction-cup dildo before, so of course immediately after receiving the Silicone Crystal Cote in the mail a few weeks ago I slapped it up against the side of my bookshelf in the living room and let it sit there until it fell off, because what else would I do with a suction-cup dildo but make it stick to things? You know, aside from using it for it’s other intended purpose. It took over two hours for the suction to wear off, and that was with no help to stay on from me (like thrusting would do, for example).
I never quite saw the need for a suction-cup dildo before. I always figured why bother if I have a hand or a partner who can thrust the toy into me. However, upon receiving the cote (after sticking it to the bookshelf) I began to fantasize about the abilities for both solo and partner sex which the dildo offered me. I began to form double-penetration scenarios in my head and think of the possibilities of fucking myself without using my hands.
First, a few facts about the Silicone Crystal Cote. It is, in fact, made of silicone (never would have guessed, right?) but it has two different colors of silicone. I think the reason why they put silicone in the name of it is because it looks like it’s made out of jelly rubber. I, for one, have not seen another clear silicone dildo, and although I’ve seen ones with multiple colors I’ve never seen one that looks quite like the Cote.
It looks as if the purple silicone which the balls and suction cup are made out of has been shot into the clear silicone, the purple permeating the clear silicone in a very definite cone in the middle of it. The effect is unusual, but also rather gorgeous. Personally I love clear toys as well, and while the entire toy isn’t clear, having the clear which blends so effortlessly into the purple is something that piqued my interest for this toy.
The Cote is a little smaller than I had anticipated. While the entire length (including balls and suction cup) is about seven inches, the insertable length is only around four and a half. It’s about an average thickness as well, so if you like something that penetrates deeply or is extra thick I would pass. However, I found it to be just about a perfect length and width for fun suction-cup play, plus it has wonderful ridges and purple balls!
As I already mentioned, the Cote stuck to the side of my bookshelf for a couple of hours before falling off. It has also stuck to my walls, refrigerator, kitchen cabinets, bathroom tile, bathroom mirror, the side of my TV, and pretty much anything I could think of to test. The suction is pretty powerful, too, and only falls off after a few hours of hanging around, which is pretty good.
I tried this toy in a couple of different ways, Dominus used it on me, and it was lovely. The ridges really add a wonderful sensation, the suction cup and/or balls are easy to hold onto and make a great handle for ease of thrusting. The other way I’ve tried it was suctioned up against various surfaces (see: above) and then positioning myself onto it and going to town, an activity often accompanied with my Nea. Let me just say, this lovely dildo delivers.
The other way I want to try it but haven’t yet is during some double-penetration play. The idea would be me fucking back onto it while sucking Dominus’ cock. Why haven’t we done this yet? Honestly, I’m not sure. That’s part of the reason this review has taken so long to get out, I was waiting for that scenario to play out before reviewing it. Alas, I’ll just have to make it a seperate post!
If you’re in the market for a suction cup dildo, or you’re just curious about one after reading this review, I highly encourage you to pick up the Silicone Crystal Cote, which also comes in peach or fuchsia. The only problem I have found of it is that of size, like I said it’s not for you size queens out there, but otherwise it’s a fantastic toy built for hours of fucking.

Review: Colt Shower Shot

The instant I found the package at my door I went upstairs and tore into it. I took out the Colt Shower Shot Spraying Water Dong and examined it. It came with three very simple parts, just the dong, a metal hose, and washers, as well as very simple instructions. The instructions simply read: “unscrew shower head. Add washers to prevent water leak and screw in hose.”
Excited, I took it into the bathroom for further examination. I noticed that the dong itself has holes not only in the tip but all along the sides of it as well. I followed the directions and had the Shower Shot installed in under a minute. It helped that I already have a detachable shower head, so all I had to do was unscrew that hose, attach the washer to the dong’s hose, attach the hose, and attach the dong, and voila! It was incredibly easy to do and took no time at all.
I turned on the shower and watched as water shot out in all directions from the dong. I felt a little intimidated, but only because, despite being a long-time anal practitioner and advocate I had never experienced an enema before, which is what I bought this dong specifically for. I was so excited, however, that I just had to try it out right away! I emptied myself before hand to make the job of the enema much easier and then got down to work.
The box claims that the dong itself is 6.5” long, though the insertable part is about 4.5” of the length, the rest is a ribbed handle and where the dong screws into the hose. I lubed myself and the dong up with spit before inserting it. It is about an average width, and not terribly long, but an average size for most butt plugs, so it was easy to get inside without much trouble.
I adjusted the water to a lukewarm setting and turned on the shower. I felt the water rushing into me and filling me up, which was definitely a new sensation but not unpleasant. The dong did leak a little because of the way it is designed, with all the holes on the sides, and I hadn’t gotten it in the entire way, there was maybe a 1/4 of an inch still out, which was enough for the water to leak out. However, the water which leaked out was not filthy in any way (I checked) and it was not a huge deterrent for me either. [Editor's note: this toy is jelly and cannot be sterilized- don't share!]
The water ran for about ten to fifteen seconds before I turned it off, slipping the toy out of me and clenching my sphincter muscles so that none of the water would come out as I moved from the bathtub to the toilet. I waited a little bit before releasing the water, but once I did I felt incredibly fresh and clean.
This is a device I am going to use again and again, potentially as part of a daily cleaning ritual. I plan on writing a follow up review once I have used it multiple times and have more of an idea of how it works over multiple uses.
