Lube Review: Sliquid Organics Natural

Sliquid is by far my favorite lube that I have tried. I recommend it to everyone and anyone because it is: all natural, vegan, glycerin- and paraben-free, hypoallergenic, non-staining, and the Organics line is actually 100% organic (unlike some other companies with “organics” in their name). Sliquid has even gone so far to make the bottles of the Organics line “100% recyclable, and the labels are printed on partially recycled stock.” This makes the eco-friendly hippie in me extremely happy and is just one more reason why Sliquid is awesome.

I’ve gone on before about the evils of glycerin and parabens, basically in every lube review I do, but I find it’s important to mention in case this is the first lube review of mine that you have read. If you’re already well familiar with what glycerin and parabens do feel free to skip the rest of this paragraph. Glycerin is extremely genital unfriendly. It is a sugar derivative and any sugar on or in the cunt can lead to yeast infections, especially in those prone to them. It is also used as a suppository to prevent constipation, in other words it can, well, do the opposite of constipation. Definitely not sexy. Parabens are endocrine-disrupting chemicals and can disrupt the reproductive system and are associated with a number of cancers as well as liver toxicity. There are plenty of other evil nasty chemicals in other lubes, especially commercial ones, and Sliquid lubes are happily free of them all.

The absence of glycerin also ensures that Sliquid lubes will never feel sticky, unlike many other water-based lubes. The Organics Natural version is very similar to the Organics Natural Gel which I’ve reviewed before. In fact they both have the exact same ingredients and in the same order which makes me wonder what makes the gel version thicker, some magic something that I don’t understand, probably. While the Organics Natural version is thinner than the Natural Gel that does not mean it is as thin as some other glycerin-free water-based lubes, which can be extremely runny and unappealing.

Like most water-based lubes it does need to be reapplied on occasion during longer sessions, but it also depends on what you’re using the lube for. Generally speaking I would suggest going with the Gel version if you are wanting the lube for anal play or fisting, since it is thicker and a little longer lasting, but for vaginal or vulval use the regular version works wonderfully. Generally speaking I use lube as an addition to my body’s lubrication and when used in conjunction it tends to last longer than otherwise, which is why the Gel version is better for the non-self-lubricating backdoor.

One strange thing about Sliquid lubes is if you only use a small amount and have a lot of friction going on they do this strange thing where they turn a little opaque white and, should you be rubbing the lube between your fingers, can form peaks when you take your fingers apart. This is somewhat strange and slightly reminiscent of egg whites (though all Sliquid lubes are 100% vegan so they don’t contain any eggs). I’m not really sure what causes this, and it doesn’t really affect the way the lube works, other than being just slightly odd. However, it only happens if you do not use enough lube, and I have mostly only noticed it while rubbing it between my fingers and not actually when it is in use on genitals.

Strangeness aside, I love all Sliquid lubes and recommend them to everyone I can. I think Sliquid lubes are the best lubes I’ve tried especially because they are so body-safe.

A big huge thank you to Trinity Romance for sending me Sliquid Organics Natural!

Review: Tunti Illuminating Boudoir Toybox

All lit up in the dark.

As I mentioned in my last review of The Original ToiBocks I recently spent a few months living with my father. During this time I started really understanding the need for secure and discreet sex toy storage. While I really enjoy the product I reviewed yesterday and these both are toy storage they are also radically different. Well, maybe not radically, but definitely quite different. The Tunti Illuminating Boudoir Toybox is still discreet, but not trying to be a dresser, nightstand, or bathroom item like the ToiBocks. Where the Tunti shines (no pun intended–more on that in a moment) is as a secure and solid transportation and storage device.

The Tunti is hard on the outside and soft on the inside and looks much like an expensive camera case which is actually the base of the design for the toybox. Or perhaps like something James Bond would carry around and whip out a camera, gun, bomb, or some clever gadget from Q. Either way it’s pretty classy. There are no markings on the outside of the box to give away what might be stashed inside of it. It opens with two latches on either side of the handle, both of which lock, and comes with two identical keys (I keep one on my keychain at all times and one in a drawer).

The sleek camera-case looking exterior.

What I love about it probably more than any other feature is the row of LED lights it has on the top side of the case, hence the “illuminating” part of the name of course. These make it very easy to see every inch inside the case, not to mention in a dark or dimly lit room. It’s so easy to find exactly what I’m looking for, and should I need to reach for something in a dark room I don’t have to fumble around or turn on a light to get to it. I like this a lot.

Inside in the light and minus the plastic divider.

It has a mesh pocket in the top side of the case which I think is perfect for lubes and massage oils (as you can see in the images). A pink plastic divider (shown below but not in the image directly above) separates the top and bottom halves keeping your toys free from mess in case any of the liquid spills. It’s pretty perfect, really, although I would prefer another color for the divider, but that’s not a big deal. The divider is the only place that has any indication of the company you purchased from, so for an added measure of security (if you were to use this case for something other than sex toys, for example, and you didn’t want it to be associated with sex toys) you could not use the divider.

One downside of the divider is it makes it so some toys won’t fit into the case, or the divider will sit unevenly in the case. Basically anything with a large base or body that exceeds approximately 2 1/2″. Many Fun Factory dildos have triangular bases which don’t fit, and anything large won’t fit either. However they can fit without the divider, and most toys aren’t that tall.

Tunti logo on the divider.

The little box at the bottom of the right hand side of the top section of the case holds the batteries for the LED lights, I like how it blends in with the case and doesn’t really look out of place. I would love to have more of these little compartments across the bottom to hold spare batteries as well, I think that would be an excellent addition to the case. The only downside of the illumination and batteries is there is no on/off switch, basically in order to turn off the LED’s while the case is open you have to take the batteries out. Again, this isn’t really a big annoyance, just a minor one, but the battery-saving option of an on/off switch would be nice to have.

Battery compartment!

My other favorite feature, and the one that makes my inner obsessive-compulsive perfectionist squeel with glee, is the ability to customize the layout of the bottom section of the case. The only things that are not customizable are the horizontal divider right in the center and the mesh pocket at the very back. The rest, the three vertical dividers and one horizontal divider, can each be moved around however you see fit, so you can make sure the slots fit the toys perfectly to avoid unnecessary rolling around and the potential to chip glass or mush into unwanted materials such as silicone to TPE.

There are eleven toys. Can you name them all? A lot of these I haven’t reviewed yet.

Because of the mesh pocket at the top it’s easiest to use the vertical dividers on the bottom half of the case, though not impossible to use on the top half. I thought a couple of pictures illustrating a variation would show this best, so as you can see I chose some of the same toys and some different and most of the dividers that can move are in different spots. It is ridiculously easy to use the dividers, just slide them into place in the slots on the sides and they fit in perfectly. The dividers and sides are made of foam, but pretty sturdy stuff, and don’t bend or crease very easily.

Organized slightly differently, now there are fourteen toys.

Because of it’s wonderful portability, stability, and organizational properties I am in love with The Tunti Illuminating Boudoir Toybox. It is definitely my favorite sex toy storage device, though I do have two six-drawer organizers for most of my toys and a few other storage options. Thank you so much Tunti Enterprises for sending me your Illuminating Boudoir Toybox to review!

Review: The Original ToiBocks

I recently spent a few months staying with my father. During this time I had a number of toys I needed to try and review and since I didn’t know how long I was going to be there I had brought quite a few in my Big Foot (reviewed previously). While my father knew enough from having lived with me when I was a teenager (and already had a number of sex toys) that he didn’t go poking around in my room on a regular basis I didn’t want the rare occasion when he did come in to be embarrassing for him or me, though mostly not for him. Enter The Original ToiBocks.

Made of an exceptionally sturdy and gorgeous dark cherry colored wood with a nice soft red velvety interior I was in love the moment I laid eyes on The Original ToiBocks, from now on known as TOT (because that acronym amuses me). There are plenty of jewelry boxes that look nearly identical to TOT, therefore allowing it to blend in to “normal” bedroom or any-other-room decor while having secret agent qualities. It also does a wonderful job of combining the functionality of both toy storage and jewelry box abilities with the privacy of having a secure and locked place to keep toys or other things you wouldn’t want nosy guests, roommates, kids, house sitters, etc. to get into.

TOT has a top shelf for jewelry or whatever else you might like to put in it and a secret hidden bottom compartment. The top shelf is very sturdy and easy to lift out of place even when full of jewelry (what I like to keep in it). There are plenty of jewelry boxes that are designed like this and the ability to lift up the top shelf isn’t too novel but this is the only one I know about that only opens by a fancy super secret hidden key. What is this key and how does it work, you ask? Well, I can’t tell you that. I have been sworn to secrecy, but let me assure you it is well locked and not completely obvious. According to the company only one out of five people can figure it out when given the box without instructions. That number goes down dramatically if the key is not stored with the box. Hell, even with reading the directions I operated it incorrectly at first (whoops). But I’ve already said too much.

TOT can also hold items up to eleven inches if placed diagonally and you can see by the pictures just how many toys it can hold. Obviously it depends on the size of the toys that you are placing inside as well, but for being relatively compact you can fit a lot into it. I like to keep my more expensive or cherished items inside, personally, especially those I don’t use on a daily or semi-daily basis. How you use it may vary wildly from my use since I do have a ridiculous amount of toys.

Because it doesn’t look out of place on a dresser or nightstand it can be easily stored out in the open, unlike many other boxes designed specifically for sex toy storage. I love my Big Foot dearly but it is somewhat conspicuous, though it does also lock. This may not be a problem for you, and with the hefty price tag that TOT has it may be just as worth it to use some other sort of storage, but I would say this is hands down the most gorgeous way to store your toys, not to mention well made, sturdy, secure, and inconspicuous.

Of course, TOT isn’t just for sex toys, it’s a great place for expensive jewelry, important documents, illegal substances, or cash money you don’t want the police to find. Not that you have any of those last two, of course. Just saying. ToiBocks also has a lovely ToiTissue Box that has a hidden slide-out compartment underneath a functional tissue holder, once again combining functionality with privacy.

Vibrator Review: Fairy Pocket Mini

sex toys

Ever since I reviewed the Fairy Mini Mini I have said the only thing that would make the Fairy Mini Mini better would be to make it rechargeable. With the Fairy Pocket Mini they have done just that. FPM is also quieter and smaller, if you can believe it, about the size of a pocket rocket (hence, I think, the name). Unfortunately FPM has lost the best feature of the FMM, in my opinion.

FPM isn’t just rechargeable, it charges via USB port, an added geeky bonus to an already awesome toy. I only have one other USB rechargeable toy, but it does seem to be an awesome geeky addition that is popping up more frequently now. It comes with the USB cord but if you have a USB adapter you could also plug it into the wall and charge it that way.

When charging a blue light comes on opposite to the charging port. It doesn’t blink or give you any indication when it is done charging, but at least it gives you some indication that it is charging. Unfortunately there is nothing to cover the charging port, so it is very easy for dirt to get into it and very difficult to clean. This also means the toy is far from waterproof, though you could still clean it with water if you are careful not to get any in the charging port.

As I already mentioned, FPM is smaller and quieter than FMM, about two inches, making it by far the smallest massager-type vibrator. Really it’s some sort of freak combination between a massager and a pocket rocket, which I’m okay with. I don’t have a huge amount of experience with pocket rockets (I own one) but the big difference that I can tell is the flexible head that FPM has. Pocket rockets tend to be a straight shaft with nubs on the end in one direction so you don’t have a wide variety of angles you can hold it at, but FPM can be held multiple different ways and you can use the sides or the tip to get off with.

While FPM is quieter it is also not as powerful as FMM, although that’s not a completely fair comparison because FMM has crazy strong vibrations. Stronger-than-Hitachi crazy strong vibrations. FPM is about equivalent to the Acuvibe Mini in strength, and like most massagers it only has two available speeds. This is the most disappointing thing to me about it because FMM is amazing and has a dial speedometer so you have a ton of speed options to choose from, and I was hoping FPM would be the same way. Alas, it is not.

That doesn’t mean it’s not my second favorite massager-type vibrator now, because it is. I still think it is far superior to any other massager-type that I have tried aside from FMM. It is also more portable than FMM, since FMM is either attached to the wall or dragging around a 4×3″ battery pack on a cord coming out from it at all times during use. FPM is definitely the smaller more portable and convenient option.

If you don’t want to be attached to a wall or use batteries FPM is definitely the best super-strong massager (slash pocket rocket) and an excellent toy. One last warning, it may actually be too strong for folks out there, but those who require massager-level vibrations in order to get off are sure to love it. Did I mention it also comes with a handy wrist-strap?

Maybe the best part of either of the Fairy products is the Engrish on the box. FPM has wonderful phrases like “Fairy Pocket mini for Women’s.” Yes, that’s right, women’s. Women’s what? We’ll never know. Also: “Fairy series final-type handy vibe revolution. It is a settled small size in the pocket. Electric massage machine of minimum in the world pocket size.”

From top to bottom: Miracle Massager, Hitachi, Acuvibe Mini, Mini Wanachi, Fairy Mini Mini, Fairy Pocket Mini.

Review: Liberator Hipster

The Liberator Hipster

There are very few products which spice up my relationship more than when I get a new Liberator shape in the mail. This isn’t to say that my relationship doesn’t have spice already, I like to think it’s like a nice homemade curry powder with just the right amount of kick, but since each shape is unique they each require a lot of research. And by research I mean sex. And by sex I mean sex in as many positions and as many ways as possible that work with the new shape complete with lots of getting off. Unlike other products I review getting a new vibrator or dildo in the mail is not as exciting for Onyx as getting a new piece of sex furniture.

The Hipster shape from Liberator is quite similar to the Ramp (click to read my review for more info on the Ramp) which I already had when I received the Hipster in the mail. They are the same length and just slightly different in height (an inch or two) but the major difference between the two of them is their incline. The Ramp has a straight slope while Hipster has two very notable curves.

While these curves may not seem like much of a difference, they really are for a variety of reasons. The curves of Hipster are more comfortable for the body to conform to, or at least for my very curvy body to conform to. I find that my back is less strained while lying on the Hipster than on the Ramp, something I didn’t notice until I had both of them to compare against each other. While the Ramp is far more comfortable than shoving multiple pillows under you to get the same effect it also is less conforming than the Hipster. However, depending on your size this may or may not hold true for you, I could see the comparison being much different for smaller people.

I also generally think that the Hipster is easier to move and hold on to since it is slightly lighter and also generally easier to get a hold of. I’m not entirely sure why this is, perhaps because it is less stiff and rigid than the Ramp is, but in any case that’s what I’ve experienced.

It’s easier for me to lay on the Hipster on my back with my ass at the height of it and my head at the bottom as well. I feel less like I’m fighting gravity to keep me from sliding back toward my head like I do with the Ramp. I assume this is because my body is sinking comfortably into the curves of the Hipster while on the Ramp I’m just on the sharp incline that doesn’t have a whole lot of traction and doesn’t stop me from sliding down.

There’s also a magical position that can be achieved with the Hipster that is not nearly so easy with the Ramp. This is something you could do with a pillow or with the Whirl, and probably other shapes like the Cube though I can’t say for sure having not had the pleasure of experiencing either of these. This position is one that is shown on the Hipster page, basically the receptive partner has the high curve under hir01 hips, hir knees resting within the dip and hir legs are together (or very slightly parted) which, due to the curves of the Hipster, still gives the penetrative partner access. The penetrative partner essentially straddles the receptive partner and is able to thrust. While this isn’t really a super magical or new position to everyone (though it is to me) it is much easier to achieve with the Hipster than otherwise.

Of course, I’ve only mentioned a couple of the positions possible with the Hipster. There are many other options under the sun, but not having carnivalesq’s fantastic drawing skills I am going to leave those up to your imagination and the images on the Liberator page.

As much as I loved the Ramp I love the Hipster even more, something I didn’t think would be possible but Liberator just had to come out with something even better. While the Ramp has it’s own perks–interlocking with the Wedge for notable instance–the Hipster’s sexy curves really do make a big difference.

Big huge thanks to Liberator for sending me a Hipster to review!

Book Review: Please, Sir (Blog Tour)

I was lucky enough to be able to be included at the very end of this month-long Please, Sir blog tour (full list of the tour participants and their posts or blogs below). I received Please, Sir a couple of weeks ago and have been working my way through it. It is an outstanding anthology focused on stories from the submissive perspective of male-dominant and female-submissive parings. I was expecting, like most anthologies, to have a mixed bag of stories, some that turned me on, others that were well-written but less interesting, but that was not the case.

The book starts with a bang with the editor Rachel Kramer Bussel’s Introduction titled Risk and Reward, setting the theme for the entire book. The now over-quoted beginning:

If you ask me, submission is an art form. It requires dedication, focus, commitment and desireæand there’s no single way of doing it. It’s about unlocking something within yourself so you can reach beyond your normal limits, exposing your body and soul in order to go somewhere you cannot get to alone.

I had a lover who always told me that the key to life is “High risk, high reward.” The same is true about kink, and this is evident throughout the stories in Please, Sir, which explores female submission and male dominance from the sub’s point of view. When these characters take risks, they are rewarded…even when those rewards look like “punishment.” They are rewarded in all kinds of ways, from being bound to being praised to being choked, spanked or put on display. They are rewarded by being tested again and again.

You can read the entire introduction here.

I found this theme to be evident in every story, and myself relating to the stories in one way or another, especially coming from a primarilly male-dominant/female-submissive relationship. Each story was well-written and engaging, painting a picture of the world and power in which the couple operated. I was connected with and turned on by every story in the book, regardless of how close or different the characters were from my own experiences, which doesn’t happen often.

Before reading this book I had bought Yes, Sir, another of Rachel Kramer Bussel’s books on the same subject matter, but had not yet gotten around to reading it, and after the amazing experience I have had reading through the exceptional stories in this book I will be pushing it to the top of my reading pile. I am also going to give this to my partner Onyx to read, or perhaps read a story or two aloud to him that I particularly enjoy. There are so many, though, I’m not sure I would know how to choose.

The book showcases a variety of ways to play with power and exchange power between a couple, from casual interactions to long-term committed partners, first-times to experienced players, and a range of topics. Breath Play, bondage, fear, anticipation, teasing, rough sex, and so much more. The writers articulate the varied experiences of the submissive partner in different, interesting, and relateable ways that, I believe, anyone with an interest in female submission would enjoy.

Check out the wonderful trailer, below, featuring bits of two of the stories and lots of sexy images and the rest of the blog posts on the tour. Finishing up the tour tomorrow is the sexy and wonderful Curvaceous Dee.

Dildo Review: Tantus Vamp

The Tantus Vamp came out around Halloween of 2009 and was inspired by Twilight.

Before I go on I just want to say officially for the record Twilight “vampires” are not vampires. Vampires don’t sparkle. The creatures in Twilight are more like emo faeries. Yes, I said it. I haven’t read the Twilight books, though I have (ashamedly) seen the (horrible) movies that are out due to a good friend who dragged me to the latest one. I’m not a fan.

Yes, the Vamp is made to be like a Twilight “vampire’s” cock: pale and sparkly and cold (Silicone retains temperature well, so you can pop it in the fridge or run it under cold water to cool it down for that “fun” necrophilia vampire feeling). So, not being a fan of Twilight, why did I get the Tantus Vamp to review? Well, it’s f’ing awesome. Seriously.

I’m all about fabulous sparkly things (the dildo, not the “vampires”) and so when Fascinations offered me the Vamp to review I couldn’t resist it! It doesn’t really sparkle as in glitter it rather shimmers kind of like the way snow catches the light, or crystals of any sort. If you’ve ever used shimmer body mist it’s that same kind of shimmer, mostly-there-but-sometimes-not kind of shimmer. It is awesome. Don’t take my word for it, here’s a video by Tantus showing off the shimmery sparklyness:

In addition to the awesome color it is also made by Tantus which in and of itself is enough to make me want to try it. Tantus uses their own specially formulated blend of 100% medical grade silicone and is one of the top producers of silicone (and aluminum) toys out there, in my opinion. I have written a number of Tantus reviews, including a recent one of a dildo somewhat similarly shaped the Deuce 2.

Silicone is awesome because it is hypoallergenic, non-porous, phthalate free, and generally body-friendly. It won’t make your insides burn when you use it01, it can be completely sterilized (see care instructions below) and therefore used in any orifice of any person as long as you sterilize it between people and moving from the back- to the front-door. While silicone toys do tend to be more expensive they are well worth the price because, unlike cheaper materials, they will last forever as long as you take care of them02.

I think the Vamp is an excellent size, a little larger than average perhaps, but large enough to satisfy those who enjoy larger toys and small enough for those relatively new to toys or penetration to use. The base makes it very easy to hold on to while using it solo or with a partner and the flared base makes it great for anal play or use within a strap-on harness.

Vamp really is a realistic-looking dildo, aside from the sparklyness and the extremely pale color. It has a wonderful realistic head as well as veins that run along the shaft, not so many that it is unrealistic or uncomfortable, just enough to be aesthetically pleasing. While the shaft is only slightly curved it still does provide some fabulous g-spot stimulation due to the shape of the head.

It’s really just a great dildo in general, but if you are also into Twilight (and it’s fine if you are, I’m not judging just stating my own opinions!) it would be easy to use this during a sexy “vampire” roleplay, and since it is harness-compatible, shareable, and able to be stuck in the fridge to cool it down below body temperature there are many ways to use it in that regard.

A big huge thanks to Fun Love for sending me a Vamp to review!

  1. Yes, I’ve had this happen with jelly toys, which is part of why I stay away from them! []
  2. I have a much loved silicone dildo that I bought eight plus years ago and it still looks as good as any of the other newer ones I own []

Anal Toy Review: Nexus Gyro

I keep wanting to pronounce this toy yee-ro like the delicious Greek sandwich, but it is actually named after the action you’re supposed to be able to do with it, gyrate, so it is supposed to be pronounced jy-ro. This makes much more sense, of course, but isn’t nearly as amusing.

Like all Nexus toys Gyro is made from 100% medical-grade silicone and is an amazingly soft and silky silicone like Nexus seems to be known for (or at least is known for in my mind). Their silicone is different than that I have encountered in any other company. Since it is silicone you can share it between partners and orifices as long as you sterilize it between them (going from vagina to anus is okay but do not go the other way around without sterilizing it first!), see care instructions below for further details.

The Gyro is meant to be a hands-free prostate stimulator, though works wonderfully as a g-spot stimulator on a female body as well. Nexus even has a neat how to use the Nexus Gyro guide on their site in case you’re not quite sure. Basically, it has a very firm round base which enables you to sit on it and rock your pelvis around to get more than the usual insertable stimulation without having to use a hand to thrust it inside of yourself.

How does it work? Very well, actually. The delightful curve of the toy hits just the right internal places. I’ve used it on both Onyx and myself, both thrusting and rocking and it is quite exceptional. I don’t think I’ve encountered any other dildos that are made for this kind of hands-free gyrating stimulation.

It is just slightly over average thickness and shorter than a lot of other toys because it is made to be inserted and rocked upon rather than thrusted, though it can be thrusted with as well. For those size queens who enjoy thicker and/or longer toys Nexus also makes the Gyro Extreme.

Since the base is so round and bulbous (about 2 1/2 inches in diameter! Not to be inserted) it is uncomfortable to keep it inserted or wear it for very long periods of time. Nexus also has considered the needs of those who would prefer to use something like the Gyro as a plug and created Silo.

A big thank you to Nexus for providing me with the Gyro!
